Overview
Vesta keeps you informed about important events at your property through notifications. When a new booking comes in, a guest checks in, a payment is received, or inventory runs low, a notification appears so you can stay on top of things without constantly checking every page.
Notifications appear in two places: the bell icon in the top bar for a quick preview, and the full Notifications page for complete management.
The Notification Bell
The bell icon in the top-right corner of every page shows your notification status:
- A red badge with a number indicates unread notifications
- The badge shows “9+” when there are 10 or more unread notifications
- Click the bell to see a dropdown with your 10 most recent notifications
- Click any notification in the dropdown to navigate directly to the related booking, guest, or record
:::tip The bell dropdown gives you a quick glance at what is new without leaving your current page. For a full view with filtering, click through to the Notifications page. :::
The Notifications Page
For full notification management, open the Notifications page from the bell dropdown or the sidebar. Here you can:
- See all your notifications with pagination (20 per page)
- Filter by read status — show All, Unread only, or Read only
- Filter by type — narrow down to specific notification types (e.g., only booking notifications or only payment notifications)
- Mark individual notifications as read — click the notification or use the mark-as-read action
- Mark all as read — clear your unread count in one click
- Delete notifications — remove notifications you no longer need
- Bulk actions — select multiple notifications and delete them at once
Notification Types
Vesta sends notifications for these events:
| Notification | When It Is Sent |

| Booking Created | A new booking is made (by staff or through the website) |
| Booking Confirmed | A booking status changes to confirmed |
| Booking Cancelled | A booking is cancelled |
| Check-in Reminder | A guest is expected to check in today |
| Checkout Reminder | A guest is expected to check out today |
| Website Booking | A booking is made through the public booking widget |
| Payment Received | A payment is recorded on a booking |
| Payment Failed | A payment attempt fails |
| Guest Registered | A new guest is created through the guest portal |
| Low Inventory | Room availability drops below a threshold |
| Email Received | An email is received for the property |
Customizing Notification Preferences
You can control which notifications you receive by configuring your preferences:
- Go to Settings > Notification Preferences (or open Notification Preferences)
- For each notification type, choose whether you want to receive it
- Save your preferences
:::info Notification preferences work in three layers: system defaults set the baseline, property defaults can override those for your property, and your personal preferences take final priority. This means you only see notifications that are enabled at all three levels. :::
Troubleshooting
Not receiving notifications?
- Check your notification preferences in Settings — a notification type may be disabled
- Make sure you are viewing the correct property, as notifications are property-scoped
- Ask your property manager if the notification type is enabled at the property level
Too many notifications?
- Use the type filter on the Notifications page to focus on what matters
- Disable notification types you do not need in your preferences
- Use “Mark all as read” periodically to clear your count
:::permissions
- (no special permission) View, mark read/unread, and delete your own notifications
- notifications:manage — Manage property-wide default notification preferences (manager/admin role) :::
