Overview
Vesta’s global search lets you find bookings, guests, and rooms from any page without navigating to a specific list first. Whether a guest calls with a confirmation number, you need to look up a room, or you want to pull up a guest’s profile quickly, search gets you there in seconds.
Opening Search
You can open the search bar in two ways:
- Keyboard shortcut: Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) from anywhere in the app
- Sidebar: Click the search field at the top of the sidebar navigation
The search overlay appears on top of your current page, so you do not lose your place.
Using Search
- Start typing at least 2 characters — results appear instantly as you type
- Results are grouped into three sections: Bookings, Guests, and Rooms
- Up to 5 results appear per section
- Click a result to navigate directly to that record
:::tip When the search bar is empty, it shows your recent searches so you can quickly re-run a previous lookup. This is handy when you are going back and forth between the same few records. :::
What You Can Search For

| Bookings | Guest name, confirmation number | ”John Smith” or “BK-12345” |
| Guests | Name, email address, phone number | ”[email protected]” or “555-0123” |
| Rooms | Room number | ”101” or “Suite” |
Search is case-insensitive, so “john smith” and “John Smith” return the same results.
:::info Cancelled bookings and inactive rooms are excluded from search results by default, so you only see current, relevant records. :::
Troubleshooting
No results appearing?
- Make sure you have typed at least 2 characters
- Check the spelling of the name, email, or number
- The record may be in a different property — search is scoped to your current property
Result is not what you expected?
- Search matches partial text, so short queries may return broad results. Try a more specific term
- If searching for a booking, try the confirmation number for an exact match
